Our leadership team was elected by acclamation during the first delegates meeting, held in December 2024. The delegates were drawn from all political regions and districts of Uganda including but not limited to Arua, Adjumani, Kumi, Soroti, Mbale, Fort Portal, Masindi, Lugazi, Kampala, Wakiso, Entebbe, Nebbi/Pakwach, Gulu, Lira, Kitgum, Bombo, Naguru etc. The elected persons are expected to serve the Council for the initial 6 months, working on specific tasks, before the general elections.
Yb Hj Muhamed Agada
Chairperson
A charismatic prominent elder, seasoned leader and one of the most respected figures in the Nubi community, Yb Hj Adam Muhammad Agada brings to the UNEC leadership years of commendable experience in community leadership, distinguished performance and cultural advocacy. Yb Agada gels extremely well with the young generation as well as his own compatriots, the elders. As the Chairperson of UNEC, Yb Agada is fully responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the Council and ensuring that the voice of the Nubi community is heard.
Mr. Muzamil Abon
Vice Chairperson
Mr. Muzamil Abon works closely with the Chairperson, helping to drive the Council’s initiatives. Mr Muzamil brings on board years of excellent experience and service to the nation as a civil servant. His deep understanding of the community’s needs and his commitment to youth empowerment make him an essential part of the leadership team.
Dr. Adnan Ali Adikata
Secretary General
Dr. Adnan Ali Adikata serves as the Secretary General, overseeing the administrative functions of the Council and ensuring effective communication between members. With a strong academic background and passion for community development, Dr. Adikata plays a key role in office management, UNEC performance and organising events and activities that promote Nubi heritage
Hadijjah Khamis
Deputy Secretary General
As Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Khadija Khamis supports the Secretary General in managing the day-to-day activities of the Council. Mr Khadija is a teacher by profession, and she is particularly focused on empowering women and youth within the Nubian community, ensuring that their voices are represented and heard.
Dr. Wardah M. Rajab-Gyagenda
Treasurer
Dr. Wardah Rajab is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the Council. Her academic background, expertise in finance, administration and international relations, and her dedication to the sustainable growth of the Nubi community help ensure that the Council’s funds are managed responsibly and transparently. She will be a resourceful resource mobiliser for the sustainability of the organisation.
Ismail Mustapha Ramadan
Secretary for Cultural Affairs
Sheikh Ismail Mustapha Ramadhan leads the Council’s cultural initiatives, focusing on preserving and promoting the Nubi language, traditions, and religious practices. Sheikh Ismail’s vast experience in cultural preservation and project management pits him against none. Hence, he is instrumental in organising cultural events, educational programs, and community outreach activities in addition to linking the organisation to potential partners.
Mr. Siraj Lindi
Publicity Secretary/PRO
Mr. Siraj Lindi serves as the Publicity Secretary and Public Relations Officer (PRO), responsible for communicating the Council’s activities and vision to the broader public. He manages the Council’s media presence, public communications, and promotional efforts. His experience as a broadcaster and daily presence on radio gives him the much-needed airtime to place UNEC at the required visibility.
